We won't even attempt to couch in terms what we experienced on our amazing trip through California, Nevada and Arizona.

Wir werden es noch nicht einmal versuchen in Worte zu fassen, was wir auf unserer großartigen Reise durch Kalifornien, Nevada und Arizona erlebt haben.

A weekend in L.A.
(deutscher Text folgt)
On friday we left for another roadtrip with a rental car.
Two times Los Angeles was on the schedule.
Saturday we planned visiting the Universal Studios in Hollywood. And already on the walk there we knew that we would spend a lot of money on the so called City Walk (and it came true^^).
The Universal Studios Hollywood are best described as an "Infotainment" place. We were able to look behind the scenes of famous blockbusters ("War of the Worlds", "Jaws", etc.) enjoying a great ride now and then ("Simpsons", "Jurassic Park" and "The Mummie") and watching amazing shows and stunts ("Waterworld", "Animal Actors").
We also had tickets ($120 for seats in the upper rows) for sunday nights Basketball game L.A. Clippers vs. L.A. Lakers at Staples Center.
As we had enough time we took the Route One leading through the Beach Cities (Newport and Huntington Beach, Santa Ana and later Santa Monica and Malibu).
In Dana Point (a harbor place with plenty yachts) we had a break to focus on the evenings game :)
After the nice pre-show Kobe Bryant and his team mates had a strong run an lead by 19 after first half. This brought us close to the free Tacos we would get if the Lakers win and keep the Clippers below 100.
But regular season is almost over and the Clippers made up as the Lakers rest there stars and were behind by 2 and no recovery was in sight.
Not before Kobe started hitting his free throws which saved the 88:85 victory for the lakers and free Tacos for the audience :)

Ein Wochenende in L.A.
Nachdem wir am Freitag ein Auto für das Wochenende gemietet hatten, ging es wieder "on the road". 2mal Los Angeles stand auf dem Programm.
Für Samstag hatten wir uns einen Besuch in den Universal Studios vorgenommen.
Schon auf dem Weg dorthin wussten wir, dass wir abends auf dem sogenannten City Walk eine Menge Geld ausgeben würden (was sich später bestätigte).
Die Universal Studios Hollywood lassen sich am besten mit "Infotainment" beschreiben. Wir konnten hinter die Kulissen bekannter Kassenschlager schauen ("Krieg der Welten", "Der weiße Hai", u.a.), zwischendurch aufregende und lustige Fahrten machen ("Simpsons", "Jurassic Park" und "die Mumie") und großartige Showeinlagen und Stunts bestaunen ("Waterworld", "Animal Actors").
Für den Sonntag abend hatten wir Karten (unverschämte $120 für Plätze in den oberen Rängen) für das Spiel L.A. Clippers gegen L.A. Lakers im Staples Center.
Da wir an diesem Tag aber genügend Zeit mitbringen konnten, nahmen wir die Route One, welche durch die Beach Cities (z.B. Newport und Huntington Beach, Santa Ana und später Santa Monica und Malibu) führt. In Dana Point (einem Hafenort mit vielen Yachten) machten wir eine sonnige Pause um Energie für das Spiel zu tanken.
Nach einer netten Show begannen Kobe Bryants Jungs mit einem starken Lauf und führten zur Halbzeit schon mit 19 Punkten und die freien Tacos, die wir bekommen würden wenn die Lakers gewinnen und weniger als 100 Punkte kassieren, rückten immer näher.
Aber es ist schon spät in der Saison und die Clippers konnten profitieren als die Lakers ihre Stars schonten.
Kurz vor dem Ende waren es nur 2 Punkte Differenz und kaum Besserung auf Seiten der Lakers in Sicht.
Erst als Kobe Bryant begann auch seine Freiwürfe zu treffen, sicherten sich die Lakers den 88:85 Sieg und uns ein paar gratis Tacos :)
